    Remove Google from Your Computer

  1. Step 1

To remove Google as the default search engine when you log on to the Internet, open a window using your Internet browser (Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox, etc.). When you are online, click on the "Tools" tabs at the top on your window. Select "Option" at the bottom of a list of choices that appears. The "Options" window will appear. Under the "Main" tab, change the Web address from google.com to the Web address you would like to be the default page that opens (e.g. www.mysite.com). This will be the website that appears each time you log on to the Internet using your Internet browsers.

  2. Step 2

If you would like to delete the Google toolbar that appears on the top right of your Internet window, click on the arrow pointed downward next to the lowercase g (located on the left side of the toolbar). Select the option "Manage Search Engines" at the bottom of the search engines listed. A list of search engines will appear; highlight the Google icon and click "Remove."

  3. Step 3

If youd like to remove Google Chrome (the Internet browser) from your computer, click on the "Start" button (located at the bottom left of your computer desktop). Select the option "Control Panel." A list of options will appear; click on "Add or Remove Programs." A list of all the programs on your computer will appear. Find the "Google Chrome" icon, highlight it and select "Remove." Several steps will follow to confirm that you indeed want to delete this program. Press "OK." Once the program is removed, you may need to restart your computer for the changes to take affect.
